| Isn't there some techniques to make spamming edits more difficult ? Like, adding a field in the edit form requiring to enter text melted in a blended image, or asking today's date, or whatever. Nothing that actually prevent spamming, but at least renders it harder, without hampering too much well-intended edits. |

| Granted, this will not prevent human spammers, but will just render their work a bit more painful. |
| OK it's not so difficult to create a new account each time, but it's one more hassle to the mischieves. Advertisement Spam is ruled by economics: it's a matter of how cheap it is to spam sites/emails compared to how much it gives back. The return on investment is probably already very low on this site, where most of the audience is already fairly familiar with internet's gems and traps. Making spam is little less cheap may ruin advertisement spam economic balance. |

| All that based on the assumption that well-intended visitors will not find it too much of a hassle to login once a day (this is a fairly common practice on forum boards, mailing lists, and even usenet). |

| As a collateral advantage, forcing login to edit will make edits less anonymous, which I deem is a good thing (and the well-intended may still register under a fake name to post anonymously). |
