When setting up a wiki, using the {{FileSystemProvider}} provider, and subsequently switching to the {{VersioningFileProvider}}, no page history is maintained (neither in "Page Info", nor in the {{jspwiki.fileSystemProvider.pageDir}}, where no {{OLD/PageName}} is created) when pages are subsequently modified.

Migration is supposed to be possible, ref. [http://jspwiki.org/wiki/FAQAdministration]

{{Q: Our admin started wiki with FileSystemProvider, which doesn't seem to do versioning or latch the username. I understand VersioningFileProvider is the best one to use for versioning. We have already put a bunch of pages on, and obviously we don't want to retype them in. Is there a way to retrofit versioning to pages already generated by FileSystemProvider?}}

{{A: Yes. Just switch the provider into VersioningFileProvider,
and it will automatically use any pages already put there by the FileSystemProvider.
No need for any retrofitting.}}

Although the old pages are being shown, no versioning is ever maintained on them.

Rather strange, it is supposed to be possible. Could this be a permission issue?

I have tried a similar thing on a brand new installation, and cannot reproduce the problem. Although no "/OLD/" directory was ever created by the VersioningFileProvider.

If I get the time to look into the original problem, I will try to find more evidence, otherwise treat this issue as non-reproducable.

Mind you, I have heard about the exact same problem from a collegue of mine, so I think there may be an issue somewhere.

Yup, I'm closing this. Please reopen if you see it happening again.
