On our local NotificationList page i am able to get email on changes on specific pages. Yay. I like the NotificationList idea and am jealous i didn't think of it :-)

But i'm not getting changes for RecentChanges, at least how i think it should work. My reading says when there is a change in any page RecentChanges should be updated.

But if you look at the change time stamp for RecentChanges it only changes when the RecentChanges page itself is edited. This is why i don't think i am getting any changes.

Is there something else going on?

Yes. "My reading says when there is a change in any page RecentChanges should be updated." This is not the case. If you edit the RecentChanges page itself to see what's in it, you'll notice that it is not in fact a big list of changes, but instructions to the Wiki to insert the computed change data. Thus the text of RecentChanges itself almost never changes. I can see why this would be confusing, though, especially since some other Wikis, including c2.com, change the actual text of the RecentChanges page each time a file is edited. In the case of JSPWiki, it is computed when the page is retrieved. Hope that helps. -- MahlenMorris

I am getting the following exception trace when running the emailgenerator.bat file on Windows 2000

Here is what I've done:

  1. have JspWiki 2.0.52 running on Apache Tomcat 4.1.24 on Windows 2000.
  2. created a NotificationList page containing my e-mail contact information
  3. modified the JSPWiki WEB-INF/web.xml file to enable XML-RPC communication and restarted Tomcat
  4. set up the Hula emailgenerator.properties property wiki.url to point to the main page of my JspWiki website

Other things to note:

  1. I'm using SunJDK 1.4
  2. I don't have a RecentChanges page set up on my JSPWiki site. I'm assuming this page gets created automatically by JSPWiki!

Any ideas what else I need to do to get this working? Thanks -- GarryCronin
