A NullPointerException is the Java class name for a Java Exception which is thrown when an application tries to use a method on an uninitialized (or empty) object. In English, this is similar to receiving a letter asking you to fill out the enclosed questionnaire, but there is no enclosed questionnaire. You can't perform a task on an object that doesn't exist.swdfwef

Technically, Java objects are pointers to areas in memory. When an object is uninitialized, it's value as far as the machine is concerned is zero, or null.

-- JDuprez This text is probably well-intended, but is inaccurate and misleading. No time (and will) to edit it anyway, as this is not really a jspWiki concern.
